Park-side residential distribution for 1,828 homes.

A complete MV/LV distribution system for a 175-mu residential community beside Longhu Park in Zigong — dual-source ATSE for fire-critical loads and a 10/0.4 kV substation network feeding both high-rise apartments and townhouses.
01 / Project Overview

A park-side community with mixed residential typologies.

Developed by Zigong Jingze Industrial, the residential area community sits within the Longhu district of Yantan New Town, covering 175 mu and delivering 1,828 homes across high-rise residential towers and townhouses. The site is adjacent to Longhu Park and supported by neighbouring schools and hospitals, raising the bar for power continuity and fire-load reliability.

Electrical design follows the national code for civil building electrical design. Loads are graded by criticality: fire elevators, emergency lighting and fire pumps are Class 1, requiring dual-source automatic transfer switching (ATSE) at the end of the line; general residential and garage lighting are Class 3. Power is taken from the 10 kV utility network, stepped down on site to 380/220 V and distributed to dwellings and shared facilities.

—— Electrical Design Highlights

What this project demanded.

Mixed criticality, dual-source fire loads and a park-side urban setting shaped the distribution architecture.

Dual-source ATSE for fire-critical loads

10 / 0.4 kV step-down substation network

Class 1: fire elevator, emergency lighting, fire pump

Class 3: residential and garage lighting

Park-side setting with adjacent school and hospital

CCC, CE and CB certified equipment

02 / Equipment & Systems

What was delivered.

A MV/LV substation network, dual-source ATSE panels and dedicated distribution for fire and public-facility loads.

01

SUBSTATION

MV/LV Substation Network

Two independent utility feeds are drawn from separate substations, each sized for 50% of the load. On loss of either feed, the surviving source automatically picks up the full site load, providing N+1 redundancy at the intake level without operator intervention.

02

ATSE

Automatic Transfer Switching (ATSE)

Dual-source automatic transfer switches are installed at the end of the line for all Class 1 fire-critical loads — fire elevators, emergency lighting and fire pumps — so a single source failure does not interrupt life-safety equipment.

03

FIRE LOADS

Fire-Load Distribution

Dedicated fire-load distribution panels segregate Class 1 critical loads from general residential circuits, with protection coordination aligned to the civil electrical code and inspection-ready documentation provided at handover.

04

PUBLIC

Public Facility Distribution

Low-voltage distribution panels cover lighting, parking, common areas and landscape loads, with metering and circuit configuration standardised across zones for easier maintenance and future expansion.
